Let’s start at the beginning: the InoxMIM dictionary

The InoxMIM dictionary: this post is intended to describe and organise a little the technical terms that we use daily when we talk about the products we sell.  We know that this language of ours is very technical and it can sometimes confuse the client.  So that this doesn’t happen we advise you to take a couple of minutes to read this article.

InoxMIM Dictionary: terms with which we identify our equipment and our processes

Equipment: units for processing partially made up of components manufactured by InoxMIM: agitators, shear-mixers, mixers and tank vessels.  To these we can add valves, probes and other equipment to generate heat.  The combination of these elements, as well as our know-how and technical assistance, gives us as a result Pasteurisers, equipment for the preparation of sauces, reactors for mixing and emulsions, CIP systems, etc.

Centrifugal pump or pumping system: the most popular item of machinery for pumping liquids in general.  These appliances are always rotary and their working is very simple: they transform the mechanical energy of a propeller into kinetic energy or pressure.

Centrifugal force: is the force that comes with the movement of a body inside a rotating system.

Agitators: are devices which allow us to mix various components within an industrial process.  They fulfil various functions in an industrial line: maintenance, homogenisation, dispersion, dissolution, or heat transfer.  With these many different products can be made.

Blender: although the popular name is the most habitual, these units for mixing solids into liquids are used for the incorporation of large quantities of solids into a liquid base.  They work using the centrifugal force generated by the turbine or propeller.  A Venturi effect is formed  when the base liquid is circulated through the mixing cavity at high speeds.

Industrial reactor vessel: we are referring to industrial equipment in which many types of chemical reactions can be made.  They normally incorporate an agitation system, either simple or complex, depending on the nature of the product.  Additionally they can be fitted with a shear-mixer or disperser.

Processes

Agitation: is the circulatory movement that we induce in the fluids that are contained in an industrial tank.  This should be done in a circular manner and provoking vortexes.  The types of flow that the agitation element can generate can be radial, axial and/or tangential.  The most complicated propellers generate multiple flows.

Mixing: in this case we are looking to homogenise two or more products that at the start of the process were found completely separate.

Emulsion: this time we have before us a process that consists of mixing two products that would not initially mix well together.
